The JS Air announced their intention to enter the Sri Lanka aviation industry through a commercial partnership with helicopter operator Deccan Aviation Lanka after concluding talks in Colombo between officials of both organizations.
The agreement was signed by Deccan Lanka officials in Colombo in the presence of the Chairman of JS Air, Mr. Munawar Alam Siddiqui and Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka His Excellency Shahzad Chaudhary.
Under the terms of the groundbreaking agreement, JS Air and Deccan Aviation will shortly commence operations of a state of the art Raytheon Beechcraft fixed wing aircraft for domestic services in Sri Lanka. Eventually, the aircraft will be offered to corporate clients for their travel to India and regional destinations.
Offered in a 17 seat, cargo or VIP configuration, the US manufactured twin engine aircraft model 1900C is capable of flying non stop to Maldives or India for corporate clients, and has the unique capability of also being able to use virtually all of Sri Lanka’s airfields.
The new alliance will offer a ‘flying bus’ service to inbound tour operators at competitive rates from the international airport, and also for the first time offers Sri Lankan corporate flyers a concept that the west has long been accustomed to – a deluxe private aircraft for corporate domestic or international charters.
JS Air
JS Air is a regional air charter business established to serve relatively low passenger-volume routes for commercial airlines as well as providing executive charter services to the oil and gas industry and other leading businesses.
JS Air is a JS Group Company. Built over four decades, JS Group is one of Pakistan’s most diversified and progressive financial services groups.
The group has grown from its roots in Pakistan’s financial services industry. JS Financial operates market-leading companies in asset management, investment banking, securities brokerage, commercial banking, insurance and trade finance.
The group also includes five vertical businesses: JS Industrial, JS Infocom, JS Property, JS Resources and JS Transportation. We believe each of these sectors, in itself, offers an exciting and attractive long-term investment proposition in Pakistan. Our diversification across these sectors allows JS to ride out each sector's individual business cycle and take a long term approach to investing in and building our businesses.
The group has offices throughout the major cities in Pakistan and manages its international operations from its London office. The group has over 18,000 employees and group net income of over US$ 150 million in 2006.
Deccan Aviation Lanka
Deccan Aviation Lanka is the country’s only helicopter operator – and has the only license granted after helicopter operations were suspended in 1995. The company operates Bell Jet Ranger rotorcraft to ferry corporate executives, VIPs and tourists all over the country, and a portfolio of specialized services ranging from aerial filming and survey applications for engineering and infrastructure applications. The Favourite Group of Sri Lanka is the local partner in the BOI approved venture.
